Chinoiserie Garden, a collection of wallpapers by Sandberg, transports interiors to the era of ancient China. The designs capture the legendary beauty of an imperial park whose memory is inscribed in a four-metre-long silk embroidery, made at the same time and then hidden in the depths of oblivion. This precious treasure is now resurfacing, after a journey from southern China to Sweden. Each corner of the fabric is thus reinterpreted by Sandberg designers with brushstrokes, in a Scandinavian palette. The figures come to life, like the peony and bamboo flowers rocked by the breeze, or the herons wading through the lotuses. The enchantment is such that one can hear the lapping of the waters, as well as the song of nightingales, peacocks and pheasants.
